A four-hit night from Luther Woullard (University of New Orleans) highlighted a 9-7 win for the Macon Bacon over the visiting Lexington County Blowfish on Wednesday night at Luther Williams Field.
Woullard drove in four runs for the Bacon (3-3), including two on a double down the left field line in the 6th inning.
Landon Odom recorded the win for Macon, coming on and throwing two innings of relief while giving up a run and striking out four.
With the Blowfish (1-2) leading 1-0 in the 3rd inning, Robert Brooks (Columbus State) continued his sizzling start to the summer with a three-run blast over the fence in left-center field to highlight a five-run frame for the home team. Woullard and Cole Gambill (BYU) contributed RBIs as well.
The Blowfish responded back with a five-run inning of their own in the 4th to make it 6-5 Lexington County. However, Woullard and Gambill each drove in another run to give Macon the lead in the bottom of the 4th, this time for good.
Woullard added a couple more insurance runs with his double in the 6th that scored Jake Gitter (Northern Colorado) and Trevor Austin (Mercer).
Matt Litwicki (Indiana) and Connor Manous (Indiana) shined for the Bacon on the mound, combining to go five innings with two hits allowed and one run. Mikade Johnson (BYU) earned the save.
The Bacon will be on the road Thursday to take on their archrival Savannah before returning home on Friday night to face Lexington County.
