After many applicants and interviews, the search is over. The Macon Bacon have named Jimmy Turk as the Manager for the Macon Bacon.

For the last four years, he has been a very successful head coach in summer collegiate baseball and as an assistant at South Mountain Community College. He has a great knowledge of the game and most importantly, his values and morals are a match for the Bacon. He is the perfect coach to continue to build on the successes of the first two seasons.
Turk is currently in his fifth year as an assistant coach at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the recruiting coordinator, works with hitters, outfielders and coaches first base for the Cougars. South Mountain won the ACCAC conference Championship in 2018 with a record of 46-15 and were ranked as high as 3rd nationally. South Mountain has been nationally ranked at one point in all four of Turk’s years. In Turk’s four years at South Mountain, he has coached 39 players that have gone on to the Division 1 level and one MLB draft pick.
For the summer, Turk was also the Head Coach of the Western Nebraska Pioneers in the Expedition League for two summers (2018-2019). In 2019 the Pioneers went 49-16 and made it to the EL Championship. The Pioneers won the 2018 Expedition League Championship in the league’s first season and Turk was named Coach of the Year in the EL with a record of 49-17. Turk coached both All-Star games and had 20 All-Star selections in two years. Turk coached one MLB draft pick (Alec Achtermann) along with 17 other draft picks. For the two years prior, he was the Assistant Coach of the Waterloo Bucks of the Northwoods League.
