The Macon Bacon were like Ariana Grande on Friday, the hits just kept on coming.
Macon struck for double digit hits in their second straight night versus the Savannah Bananas, en route to a 6-1 win.
First to get hot offensively was Savannah. Aaron Schultz tripled to right to lead off the game, and was driven in by right fielder Mike Williams.
From that point on, the Bacon were smokin’ hot. Cal Gentry doubled to right in the fourth, and catcher Josh Nowak drove in a run.
In the fifth, the Bacon untied it with six base hits. Five of the six hits were singles, and Macon put up four more runs, one at a time. Eight men came to the plate in the fifth inning outburst, putting the Bacon up 5-1.
Fresh off his best career game, center fielder MJ Rookard drove in a run with a sixth inning single. His 2-5 line followed a 5-6, 4 RBI Thursday night.
On the pitching side of things, Preston Sparks followed a complete-game shutout with a quality start. He lasted through the sixth, allowing one run on four hits.
The Bacon return home Saturday to face the Florence Red Wolves at 7pm on cplbaseball.tv.
