Bacon-wrapped bacon: a daughter’s masterpiece

When you come to a Macon Bacon game and head over to the concession stand, one of the staple items on the menu is bacon. While all the bacon-themed items are stand out and quite tasty, one item, in particular, presents itself as something unique: bacon-wrapped bacon.

The idea of the bacon-wrapped bacon started thanks to a special someone in the Macon Bacon community, president Brandon Raphael’s daughter, Brooklyn. What started as a normal family conversation ended in creating the next best bacon item on our menu.

“We talk about things a lot as a family and come up with different ideas. When I first came here at the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, I suppose we did not have a lot of bacon-related items on the menu. We are the Macon Bacon, so why wouldn’t we have a ton of Bacon items?” Brandon said.

Brooklyn began to think about all food items bacon-related that she could think of, and many bacon-wrapped ideas came into her head.

“Well, he [Brandon] talks about how there is a lot of bacon wrap things. So I just thought bacon-wrapped bacon,” Brooklyn said.

Brandon knew that her quick thinking would come up with something fun and original, something that the concession stands would be able to present to the fans that they would end up loving.

“We worked with our food-beverage team, and we came up with the idea of the steak cut bacon with regular pieces of bacon around it. It doesn’t get any better than that, and it’s dang good. This whole experience means so much to me because it is something my daughter came up with,” noted Raphael.

With menu items coming from Raphael’s family, making the menu ‘on theme’ just means a little more. It wasn’t just anyone’s idea, but someone who has spent her life around the team since her dad began working with the Macon Bacon.

“I think it’s great to involve other people, your friends, your family, and there’s no idea that’s too crazy. We’ve always believed that, and that’s something that we can bring into the ballpark. We’re gonna try to do it, and this is no exception,” Brandon said.
