Eggs Crack Ahead: July 28th

Kole Kaler (Hawaii) singled to score R.J. Yeager (Mercer) in the 5th inning and that proved to be all the runs the Eggs would need, as they beat the Bacon 1-0 on Tuesday night at Luther Williams Field.

The win pushes the Eggs ahead in the Breakfast for Dinner series lead, 3-2.

It was a pitching showcase for both teams, with 13 total hurlers making an appearance and combining to allow just 10 hits with 19 strikeouts.

For the Eggs, Cal Beardsley (Arkansas-Little Rock), Luke Sutko (Mercer), and Gavin Grubbs (Lipscomb) all threw two scoreless innings while Jack Sinclair (UCF), Connor Manous (Indiana), and Noah Mendlinger (Georgia College) all recorded shutout innings as well. Mendlinger earned credit for the save after pitching the 9th frame.

On the Bacon side, Andrei Stoyanow (Hendrix) and Dalton Smith (Georgia Tech) both threw two scoreless innings while Braydon Tucker (Indiana), Mikade Johnson (BYU), Ty Bothwell (Indiana), and Braden Scott (Indiana) each recorded a scoreless frame. Austin Hohm (USC Aiken) took the loss.

Macon will now bring the Eggs back into the fold for a two-game road stretch that will see them travel to Lexington County on Wednesday and Savannah on Thursday. The Bacon will return home on Friday to face the Bananas in a big Coastal Plain League matchup at Luther Williams Field with fireworks.
