Kevin Soine named Macon Bacon head coach

MACON – Kevin Soine has been appointed as head coach of the Macon Bacon, president Brandon Raphael announced Tuesday morning.

“We are thrilled to have Kevin back in our dugout,” Raphael said. “Kevin was an important part of our championship season two summers ago and we can’t wait to see him back in a Bacon uniform.”

Soine has spent the last five summers working in the Coastal Plain League (CPL), including stops at Holly Springs, Macon and Martinsville. Last season, he was the manager for Holly Springs, guiding the Salamanders to their first-ever winning record at 24-20 in the East Division.

Two years ago, Soine was an assistant coach in Macon, helping the Bacon to the 2020 Southern Summer Ball Series Championship.

“Kevin is a great coach,” Raphael added. “He understands what it takes to win in the CPL, and his teams have proven that over the last few years. But, he’s also an outstanding person, and that’s just as important.”

Outside of the summer season, Soine serves as an assistant coach and student learning facilitator at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix.

Soine and the Bacon will return to the field next May to kick off the 2022 season.
