Nathan Schreckengost hammered a two-run double to right to tie the game at 3 in the top of the sixth to start a six run frame. Logan Fink followed with an RBI double, 18 feet up the 19-foot wall in left field. Cory Bivins delivered with the deciding blow just two batters later, hammering a moonshot into the trees of Forest City, giving the Bacon a 7-3 lead. The three-run homer was the first of the year for the Bacon. Tristan Thomas hit an RBI single to finish off the inning.
On the pitching side, the bullpen stayed sharp, continuing a streak of three consecutive scoreless outings, dating back to the home opener vs Florence. Macon Bacon pitching stranded 13 Owls runners, and were led by Danny Westbury out of the bullpen, with a line of 3.2 IP, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K.
The Bacon will head to Florence for a Tuesday night game before returning to Luther Williams Field for a third matchup with the Savannah Bananas on Wednesday night.
