MACON, Ga. — The Macon Bacon are two weeks away from Opening Day — and one local sponsor is bringing a new initiative to the table that kicks in with every Bacon home run.
Dr. Jason Mann is the lead dentist/owner of Providence Dental Spa in Macon.
Dr. Mann’s son Julian was born prematurely at 24 weeks — weighing just one pound and 15 ounces. But you wouldn’t guess it today after the constant attention he received from doctors who worked tirelessly to make sure he was as healthy as possible.
“Seeing our son on 100 percent oxygen and him de-saturating and the doctors saying there’s nothing you can do,” Dr. Mann said, ‘it’s really a humbling experience for us to just experience that and understand and appreciate how much they actually put into this behind the scenes.”
Because of that, Dr. Mann has given new meaning to the long ball this summer.
With each home run hit by a Bacon player at Luther Williams Field, Dr. Mann and his business are donating $100 that will be pledged to the Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital.
